Reflecting on our latest Transnational Project Meeting

jzaraik

On January 21st and 22nd, the latest transnational project meeting for the ROLEPL-AI project took place at Manzalab’s office in Paris. This two-day event provided an opportunity to review progress, share feedback, and plan next steps for this innovative initiative aimed at enhancing soft skills through AI-powered role-play.

Key Insights from Experimentation

Partners shared insights from the first experimentation phase:

  • FHD: Students appreciated the social aspects of the app and felt it could improve soft skills with longer use. Challenges included sound issues and technical support needs.

  • Manzalab: Suggested improving immersion by enabling direct AI communication and providing proper equipment.

  • VUC: Participants, averaging 47 years old, found the app useful for practicing English but faced challenges with text size and navigation.

Discussions emphasized refining scenarios, improving feedback, and tailoring difficulty levels for a more immersive experience.

Future Plans and Improvements

Next Experimentation Phase

  • A comparative approach: one group using the app remotely, another in-person.

  • Standardized instructions and extended training sessions to enhance engagement.

  • Adjusted questionnaires to focus on AI’s impact on soft skills and mindset.

AI Training and Feedback

  • Introduce gamified scoring with detailed qualitative feedback.

  • Ensure realistic constraints in simulations while maintaining flexibility.

  • Enhance transparency in AI evaluations and incorporate visual feedback like emojis.

Technical Enhancements

  • Add clearer loading indicators and improve text visibility.

  • Create tutorial screens for easier navigation.

  • Simplify scenario conclusions to avoid confusion.

Plans include the Advisory Board meeting on February 5th and continued testing in April. The final multiplier event is scheduled for June 2025 at FHD in Dresden. Short video content will promote the project’s outcomes, while further experimentation will refine the app’s effectiveness.

The ROLEPL-AI project continues to make steady progress, with partners working together to address challenges and enhance the app’s features. The next stages of experimentation will be crucial in refining the platform and ensuring it meets the needs of both students and educators. With ongoing collaboration, the project is well-positioned to make a practical and meaningful impact on training methods in education and beyond.
