After two years of intense collaboration, ROLEPL-AI has officially come to an end. The project brought together expertise in education, immersive technologies, and artificial intelligence to explore how AI-driven role-play can enhance the training of soft skills in tourism, services, and beyond.
Throughout the project, we co-created pedagogical content, trained and released an open-source large language model (LLM), developed and tested an immersive application integrating interactive avatars, and engaged hundreds of participants across Europe through experiments, Erasmus Days, and the final multiplier event in Dresden. The journey was enriched by valuable feedback from learners, teachers, and stakeholders, helping us to better understand both the opportunities and challenges of introducing AI into education.
Even though the project officially ended on August 31st, 2025, ROLEPL-AI’s results will continue to live on:
All public deliverables remain available on the project website and the Erasmus+ Project Results Platform.
The open-source LLM can be freely downloaded and reused.
Scientific contributions will be accessible through conference proceedings.
And importantly, the ROLEPL-AI immersive application will remain available for one year after the project’s conclusion, provided that server expenses are covered by those wishing to use it. This ensures that institutions, educators, and researchers still have the opportunity to explore and test the tool in their own contexts.
While this marks the formal conclusion of ROLEPL-AI, it is also a starting point for new initiatives. The knowledge gained, the partnerships built, and the resources produced will continue to support innovation in education, inspiring future projects and collaborations.
We warmly thank all participants, partners, and stakeholders who contributed to this adventure. Together, we have not only explored the potential of AI in education but also laid the groundwork for its responsible and creative use in the years ahead.
